My name is Eric Vrem, and I have spent my life serving others.

My commitment to service began in the United States Navy, where I served for 11 years as a combat corpsman with the United States Marine Corps. Those years taught me the value of leadership, teamwork, and putting others before yourself. They also showed me that the best leaders are the ones who listen first and act with integrity.

After my military service, I built a career in healthcare and technology, working in executive leadership roles focused on improving patient care and helping healthcare organizations operate more efficiently. Along the way, I earned multiple degrees in business, healthcare, and management because I believe learning never stops and that good leaders should always be looking for better solutions.

While my career has been important, my greatest passion has always been my community.

For more than 25 years, I have volunteered throughout Charles County. I have served as President of the Greater Waldorf Jaycees, President of the Charles County Youth League, and helped establish opportunities for young athletes through youth baseball and softball programs. I have spent countless evenings and weekends coaching, mentoring, umpiring, organizing events, and working to give children a safe place to learn, compete, and grow.

I believe that every child deserves opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background. When we invest in our children, we invest in the future of our community.

Like many families in Charles County, I have watched the cost of living continue to rise. Families are paying more for housing, electricity, groceries, and everyday necessities. I believe local government should focus on making life better for the people who already live here by improving infrastructure, supporting public safety, protecting our environment, investing in parks and recreation, and making our community a place where future generations can afford to stay.

That belief is what led me to run for Charles County Commissioner for District 4.

This campaign has never been about politics. It has always been about people. While collecting petition signatures, I had the privilege of speaking with hundreds of residents across District 4. I listened to their concerns, heard their ideas, and learned what matters most to them. Those conversations reinforced my belief that government works best when it listens to the people it serves.

I am committed to protecting the character of our community, opposing hyperscale data centers in Charles County, supporting responsible growth, and ensuring that development benefits our residents rather than special interests. I believe decisions should be made openly, honestly, and with the community's voice at the center of every discussion.

I am not a career politician. I am a husband, a father, a veteran, a business leader, and a volunteer who believes that leadership is about service. Throughout my life, I have tried to leave every organization and every community better than I found it.

That is the same commitment I bring to this campaign.

Together, we can build a Charles County that remains affordable, protects our quality of life, invests in our children, and always puts its residents first.

Building a Better Future for Every Family

More for Kids & Families

More for Kids & Families means making our children and families a priority in every decision we make. We need to invest in the next generation by building recreation centers, completing parks that have been planned for years but never finished, and creating safe places where children can learn, play, and grow. We must continue to support strong schools and educational opportunities while expanding mentoring programs that connect young people with positive role models. By investing in our youth today, we are developing the leaders, workers, parents, and community volunteers of tomorrow. A community that invests in its children is a community that invests in its future, and that is the kind of Charles County I want to help build.

No Data Centers

I support technology, innovation, but I do not believe hyperscale data centers are the right fit for Charles County. These facilities consume enormous amounts of electricity and water, place additional demands on our infrastructure, and often provide relatively few long-term local jobs compared to the amount of land they require. Our county should focus on development that strengthens our economy while preserving the quality of life that makes our communities a great place to live. We can grow our commercial tax base by attracting businesses that create meaningful employment, support local families, and fit the character of our county. Economic growth should benefit our residents without sacrificing our neighborhoods, our natural resources, or our future.

If anyone wants to know where I stand, my answer is simple: I support smart growth, not hyperscale data centers. They are not the right investment for Charles County.

Affordable Living

Affordable living means ensuring that Charles County remains a place where families can thrive, seniors can retire with dignity, and young people can afford to build their future. Rising housing costs, utility bills, and the increasing cost of everyday necessities are placing a financial burden on everyone, and county government should be part of the solution. We need to expand our commercial tax base by attracting the right businesses that create quality jobs while helping reduce the tax burden on our residents. We should encourage responsible housing development, invest in infrastructure that supports long-term growth, and work with community partners to increase affordable housing opportunities. My goal is simple: make Charles County a place where people can afford to live, work, raise a family, and retire without being priced out of the community they call home.

Responsible Economic Development

Responsible Economic Development means attracting businesses that strengthen our community, create quality jobs, and expand our commercial tax base without sacrificing our quality of life. Charles County should be a place where businesses want to invest, but that requires more than simply approving new development. We must ensure we have quality schools, reliable infrastructure, strong public safety, attractive recreational facilities, and the amenities businesses and their employees look for when choosing where to locate. By creating the right environment for responsible investment, supporting our local businesses, and pursuing companies that provide lasting value to our community, we can grow our economy, create opportunities for our residents, and help reduce the tax burden on everyone who calls Charles County home.

Better Infrastructure

Better Infrastructure means planning for the Charles County of tomorrow while taking care of the communities we have today. Our residents deserve safe roads, reliable infrastructure, better sidewalks and street lighting, and neighborhoods that are properly maintained. As our county grows, we must make sure our roads, schools, public safety services, utilities, and recreational facilities can support that growth before approving development that puts additional strain on them. We also need to address projects that have been discussed or planned for years but have yet to be completed. Growth should never come at the expense of the people who already live here. We need thoughtful planning, responsible investment, and infrastructure that improves the quality of life for everyone in Charles County.

Transparent, Accessible Government

Transparent, accessible government begins with listening to the people. As your County Commissioner, I will be available, responsive, and accountable to the residents of District 4. I will regularly meet with residents through open community meetings to hear their concerns, discuss local issues, and ensure every voice has an opportunity to be heard. Major decisions should be made openly, with meaningful public input and clear communication, not behind closed doors. Every resident deserves to know how decisions are made, how tax dollars are being spent, and how those decisions affect their community. My commitment is to represent the people of District 4 with honesty, integrity, and transparency, ensuring your voice is heard and your concerns are always taken seriously.
